Winter cabin in holiday ornament

Hi, Janja here!
New Christmas dies are already in the store. They are currently on sale for 25% off.
Since my dies are still on the way, I have chosen some older ones and made the holiday card.

- CottageCutz dies: Winter Cabin Border, Spruce Stems, Nested Ornaments: Bulb, Oval Set, Nested Scallop Oval Set
- white card base: 5.3 x 5.3" (13,5 x 13,5 cm), folded
- white and brown cardstock
- embossing folder
- double-sided adhesive tape, self-adhesive foam tape, glue
- colored ink pads

Cut out the ornament from a brown cardstock. Then cut out the opening with an oval die in the ornament. Prepare two more ovals. The cuts on the edges are shaded and glued together.

Cut out the winter cabin border. Shorten it with scissors to fit the size of the ornament.
Assemble ornament.

Prepare a white card base. Trim two squares of white and brown cardstock (4.7 x 4.7" and 4.9 x 4.9").
Cut out round openings in the middle of both to match.
Stamp a sentiment.

Cut out another square from a white cardstock and emboss it. Attach it to the back side with self-adhesive foam tape.
Cut some spruce stems.

Finish the card.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a lovely day.

Chapel in the Woods

Hello Scrapping Cottage friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit today. It's Mary Marsh here bringing you the Saturday edition of the Blog.

Hope you have been enjoying all of the beautiful creations that the DT has been showing over these past weeks with the wedding dies. If you haven't seen them, just page back through the Blog for some delightful eye candy.

Today I am using one of the wedding dies, Little Chapel, but I turned it into a chapel in the woods for a Christmas card. So let's get started on how I created my card for today.

Step 1:  As I was thinking about my post for this week, I knew I wanted to do something different with the little chapel die. Then my mind went to Christmas and then to a scene in the woods. I knew I wanted snow and evergreens and also a white card with just a hint of another color.
I pulled out a falling snow embossing folder and started my background.
Step 2: To embellish the snow banks, I used the winter wonderland die for the sledders and the small house, for the pine trees I used the snowglobe winter accessories die and for the smaller trees on the hills I used the winter cabin border (2016 Christmas) die. I snipped these border dies to just use the parts that I wanted in my scene.
Then for my snowy hills, I decided on the jolly snowman die. That had a perfect snowdrift that would work for a hill in my scene. You could also cut your own hills. I covered my hills with glitter.
Step 3: To complete the last of the scene elements, I die cut my little chapel. This is the inspiration die for my card today I sponged some fossilized amber distress ink to give a soft glow to the inside of the church.
Step 4: For the oval frame that surrounds my scene, I used the stitched eyelet die(largest) and also the stitched oval die (2nd largest). I cut one at a time. That works better for me as far as placement. I cut the largest oval first. Then I take the next oval die and place it on that one and run it through my die cut machine. And now you've got your oval frame. It's easy enough.

Step 5: With all the elements cut it is now time to start the assembly of my scene. I secured the die cuts with glue dots, multi medium matte and dimensional adhesive. Attached my frame and then the 2 larger pine trees.
Image Panel: 4 1/8" x 5 3/8"
Card Base: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
Step 6: I wanted just a touch of color on this all white scene. So I chose to use the Merry Christmas Ribbon (Christmas 2016) die and cut it in red. I snipped off the ribbon part because it was just a bit too large for the corner of my card. Secured this with the multi medium matte. I also did a die inlay technique by placing the Christmas letters back into the die.

And, that completes my card for this week. I hope I have given you some inspiration on a way to use a die in a different way. One that was intended for a wedding has now become a part of Christmas.
See you next Saturday.

Snowy landscape

Hi, Janja here!

Today I share with you another card created with CottageCutz Christmas dies. In the forefront of snowy landscape I placed a fox.

For the card we need:
- craft card base: 4.5 x 6" (11,5 x 15 cm), folded
- light blue paper: 4 x 5-3" (10 x 13,5 cm)
- white and colored cardstock
- Distress ink: Rusty Hinge, Evergreen Bough, Iced Spruce, Vintage Photo, Walnut Stain
- white pigment ink

On light blue background stamp some spruce trees. From white cardstock cut out four stitched ovals (the 7th die from the center) and winter cabin border.

Shadow edges with Distress ink Walnut Stain, and while still wet gently spread them with white pigment ink.

Cut out birch trees with the birch trees and deer die. With Distress ink Walnut Stain strongly emphasize the right edges.

Also prepare a few white cutouts with the snowy tree die. They are treated the same way as ovals.
Cut out the fox from color cardstocks.

"Brr, it's cold outside today", said the fox and put on a scarf  :).

On the right bottom corner stamp warm wishes and start assembling the card. Use a glue and self-adhesive foam pads.

Completed card.

You still have time to share your projects with us on
challenge #7 - fall

Thank you for coming over and have a great day.

Christmas Tags

Hello Scrapping Cottage friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit today. It's Mary Marsh here bringing you the Wednesday edition of the Blog.
The Design Team has been bringing you some fabulous samples with the new CottageCutz Christmas 2016 dies.  I hope you are being inspired to start thinking about your Christmas cards, thank you notes as well as Christmas gift tags.

That was a lead in to my project for today. I decided to make a couple of gift tags with these new dies. So sit back, relax grab some coffee or a cold drink while I walk you through my creative process this week.

For the first tag I used the Winter Cabin Border and the Ornament Trio dies.

To create this tag, I used the CottageCutz Rectangle Die-the largest one in the set. I then stamped the background snowflakes with Versamark ink and embossed with white embossing powder on my light blue cardstock.
I didn't want to have a square topped tag so here's what I did to make a pretty tag top. My rectangle base is 3" wide,  so I needed a die wide enough to only cut the top of the tag.
I placed the cardstock so the side edges are not on the cutting edge of the die.

Now on to decorating the tag. I cut both the Winter Cabin Border die and a single ornament from the Ornament trio dies in white cardstock.

To complete this tag I punched a hole at the top and ran my blue ribbon through. I tied it with silver cording. I attached my ornament, added a pearl to finish the tag off.

Now onto my 2nd tag. For this one I used the Merry Christmas Santa die. I cut my tag in red cardstock, found the patterned paper I wanted to use and cut my Santa image.  I also used the Stitched Circle Dies and cut a circle with the 5th largest die to position Santa in the center of it.
I added a little snow mound at the bottom of the circle for Santa to stand on. For the mound I used the sand from the seagull die. Just another way to get additional use out of your dies. I used glue and sprinkled some chunky glitter on the snow mound.
I used the same glitter and added it to Santa's hat, belt, arm cuffs and hat.
To complete this tag, I stamped a sentiment on olive cardstock and cut it in a flag shape. I embossed the sentiment to make it stand out on the tag.  I added white ribbon and tied it with red striped ribbon.
Thanks for staying with me through the entire post this week. Hope I gave you some ideas for your own Christmas tags. Don't forget about our current challenge going on for August. The theme is birthday and you can get more info here.

See you next week.........until then sending inky hugs!
