CottageCutz Pink Peony Flower/Video

Hello everyone, Cheryl here with a super quick post for today :)
I also wanted to share a Video on the CottageCutz Pink Peony Flower 4 x 4
My card is a Z-Gate Fold, ive been making a LOT of them lately, they are super fun to make! I have video's on them and the bands/velcro band too, if you check out my youtube channel you can see them there, and on my blog

I LOVE the CottageCutz Pink Peony and felt I needed to re-visit my die, and make a video showing how you can create other flowers with it. I also LOVE how the die matches the My Little Shoebox design paper.

I'm super excited to share this little box I created this weekend...I LOVE IT!!! It's from a tutorial I saw on Splitcoaststampers "Secret Box" . I've used My Little Shoebox papers from the Audrey Collection and the really cool part is the matching dies from Scrapping Cottage. Honestly it's just so much fun to create. Now let me show you everything this little box has going on.

Everything's coming up Poppies!

I love poppies! I have to say they are one of my favorite flowers, so I decided I needed to figure how to make one using my CottageCutz dies. I used the Pink Peony Flower for the petals and the stamen is from the Orchid Flower.

Step 1. Cut one base flower, 2 petal pieces and 3 stamens.

Step 2. Ink the petals. I used Distress Ink ( Spiced Marmalade, Barn Door and Black Soot).

Step 3. Cut into the base flower to form four separate petals (but don't cut all the way through). Cut the end off of the stamens, so you just have a tip with three balls.

Step 4. Shape the parts with a flower shaping tool or ball stylus.

Step 5. Assemble the flower. Add a little Flower Soft in Sage Green for the centers.

Here's a layout that I made using some of the poppies. This is a picture of my nephew at the Land of Oz festival with the Wicked Witch. The quote says, " And now my beauties, something with poison in it. Poppies...poppies. Poppies will put them to sleep." ~ Wicked Witch of the West

Hope you get a chance to try these beautiful flowers!

Sweet Thank You

Good Morning everyone! Angelica here, hanging onto the last bit of summer. For today's project, I wanted to create something using the new My Little Shoebox collection from The Scrapping Cottage. These designs are a little whimsy, but still feminine enough to create a soft and delicate "thank you" note.

I pieced almost every element from the Laundry Line die and the Pink Peony Flower die using "Good Day Sunshine" by My Mind's Eye. I inked everything with just one color of Distress Ink - Antique Linen. I thought it really gave it the vintage country look I was going for. (Seems like I'm always going for vintage country these days!) The sentiment is from "Thankful Hearts" (Verve Stamps).

Here's a photo to show you the dimension you can create with the MLS Peony die. It's gorgeous and really simple to put together. I doodled a bit on the flower and leaves with a white Gelly Roll pen.

Don't you just love that dress? SUCH cute designs in this collection!
QUICK TIPS:
  • I use Zig Two-Way glue for all my Cottage Cutz piecing. It dries clear and quickly. It won't leave an icky residue, either.
  • I always run one 4x4" sheet of white cardstock on my new dies first. Not only will you then be able to see where each element will cut after mounting the foam, but you'll have extra pieces in case you want to ink any element a solid a color. I always, always cut extra. :)
That's it for today! I hope you enjoyed it and left feeling inspired. Have you played along in the Cottage Cutz August challenge yet? I created a simple sketch and we'd love to see what you come up with! Up for grabs is a $25 Gift Certificate to The Scrapping Cottage.

Have a beautiful day! ~ Angelica
